Las Vegas New Years Eve Road Closures

New Years in Las Vegas is truly an electric experience, but without a proper plan, it can quickly turn into chaos. Rideshares will only drop off at certain spots on the strip, and higher rates can be expected. The city does also offer limited public transportation, and there will be a number of road closures. The best way to ensure your New Years Eve in Las Vegas turns into a night to always remember is to plan ahead. Here is our survival guide to the Las Vegas New Years Eve road closures.

Road Closures

The Las Vegas Strip is expected to see over 300,000 visitors for New Years Eve. To ensure a safe and smooth holiday the city closes down Las Vegas Blvd. As well as a number of streets around the strip. Road closures will start as early as 4:00 pm on New Year’s Eve. Closures will be in place until around 4:00 am on New Year’s Day.

Although the hotels look close enough to walk to each one, the strip spans a few miles and can be a daunting walk. Expect closures from Russell to Sahara from 4:00 pm to 6:00 am. As well as I-15 on Tropicana at Industrial and Flamingo at Valley View. The open side roads going north to south will be Koval and Frank Sinatra, and going east to west is going to be Desert Inn and Industrial.

Driving

New Year’s Eve Las Vegas style is one giant party. Since the Strip is expecting to see over 300,000 guests, the streets are flooded with walking traffic. The city shuts down a lot of the roads around to minimize road traffic! You should expect traffic and closures from 4:00 pm on New Year’s Eve through 6:00 am New Year’s Day. Parking anywhere near the strip will also be scarce. We do not recommend you drive, and the Las Vegas Police will be on high alert on New Year Eve and Day. If you are local, check out The Las Vegas Monorail which is offering $1 one-way rides for locals, and public transit will be running until 3:00 am. Plan ahead, don’t drink and drive!

Rideshare

Uber, Lyft, and any other Rideshares are going to have designated pick-up and drop-off locations for New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas. They will be using Frank Sinatra Dr as well as Koval Lane for access to those spots. Expect surges in pricing, traffic, and longer waits for your pick ups and drop offs.

Bus Stops

Expect detours to begin at 5:30 pm on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas. They will be ending at 3:00 am on New Year’s Day. The Bus routes will provide the closest access to the Strip. There will be 201 on Tropicana Avenue, 202 on Flamingo Road, and 203 on Spring Mountain Road/ Desert Inn Road/ Lamb Boulevard. Keep in mind none of these will be stopping on the Strip. The only public transit that will be running on the Strips is going to be the Monorail. For more details, call 228-RIDE (7433)

The Monorail

The best way to get around on the strip on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas will be the Monorail. The Monorail will be the ONLY public transportation running on the strip New Year’s Eve. The Las Vegas Strip is 4.2 miles from Mandalay Bay to The Stratosphere, and that does not account for the distance from the street to the hotel. The hotels on the Strip as designed to trick your eye into thinking they are not as large and far as they are. Safe your feet and purchase your tickets here! The Monorail will be open at 7:00 am on December 31 to 3:00 am on Sunday, January 1st. They are offering $1 one-way rides for locals.
