Strip Closures NYE: What You Need to Know

The Las Vegas Strip will shut down to traffic:

• 5:30 PM: Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue close in both directions.
• 8:00 PM: Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip) will close entirely from Russell Road to Sahara Avenue.

Expect closures to last until the early morning hours of January 1. Plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to be.

Tips for Getting Around

1. The Monorail: The Monorail is a convenient way to move across the strip. On New Year’s Eve, the Monorail will be the ONLY mode of public transportation operating along The Las Vegas Strip. The monorail has stops at MGM, Flamingo, Ballys, Harrah’s, and Sahara.
2. Use Ride-Share: For NYE in Vegas, specific pick-up and drop-off points will be available for rideshare services. Both Koval Lane and Frank Sinatra Dr. will be used by them to get to those locations. Be prepared for price increases, increased traffic, and lengthier pick-up and drop-off wait times.
3. Park Early: If you’re driving, park at a hotel or garage before closures start. Expect traffic jams trying top leave parking garages after midnight. 
4. Stay Safe: Alcohol is allowed in plastic cups, but no glass bottles. Be prepared for crowds and follow safety guidelines.
